UK based website The Pommier brings together work from independent accessory designers and makers from across the world onto an e-commerce platform, and they’ve just launched an app to make it easier to see and buy via your mobile.

A number of sites that bring together independent work have appeared over the past few years and I applaud anyone making it easier to put shoppers in direct contact with those designing, making and sourcing great things.

Lewis Phillips, Founder of The Pommier, says, “Mobile is undoubtedly the way forward when it comes to online shopping – indeed, before the launch of our app, 56% of our overall traffic came from mobile users, with 78% of mobile purchases coming from those accessing the site on iPhones. Developing an e-commerce app for The Pommier was a no-brainer, and we’re thrilled to be offering users a new way to browse and buy the incredible collections we have carefully curated from an international pool of design talent.”

The site is currently home to  a real  mix of accessories – from ‘streaky bacon’ necklaces to high-end handbags, along with some 80s-inspired earrings and delicate charm bracelets. Many of the designers featured are from the UK, but there are also Israeli, Italian, French and Dutch designers and makers showcasing their work.

I downloaded the app and it’s got a really smooth look and feel to it. The products on offer are pretty unique too, there’s some gorgeous jewellery and I particularly like the unusual shapes of Israeli bag design brand Meckela. The bags are handmade by two sisters who come from three generations of farmers based in a small Israeli village.

Dreams of Norway produce some really delicate silver jewellery pieces and I really love ‘bohemian beach jewellery’ brand Amanda Marcucci’s statement necklaces.

For 2016, The Pommier plans to expand the offering from more designers across the world, continuing their mission to support independent talent.
